The provision of medical aid to Ukraine is a familiar area of work for Maple Hope Foundation.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the organization has delivered aid to Ukrainian medics - both civilian and military - worth 32 million Canadian dollars (928,000,000 UAH).

The organization was founded by Ukrainian-Canadians from Vancouver in 2014 against the backdrop of the Revolution of Dignity.

The organization has since implemented a number of projects to support Ukrainian veterans and their families, children and youth, artists, as well as displaced Ukrainians in Canada.

Frequently Asked Questions

The helicopter is ready for delivery!

It is physically located in an aircraft hangar in Vancouver and is only waiting to be delivered to Ukraine.

The Sikorsky 76A helicopter was donated to Maple Hope Foundation by a private company from Vancouver specializing in air transportation. Out of respect for the donor, we are not disclosing their name yet, and are waiting for an official press release with their representatives and the Canadian press.

This is the first private donation of aircraft of this magnitude from Canada to Ukraine, organized through the joint efforts of Canadian business and the Ukrainian community.

As soon as the press release is published, we will be delighted to introduce you to this donor, who has also been providing extraordinary assistance to Ukraine since the early months of the full-scale invasion.

The purpose of the helicopter is to provide medical evacuations and to transport victims injured in Russia’s war against Ukraine. It will be deployed in hard-to-reach disaster zones and in cases where rapid transportation to a hospital is critical to saving the patient’s life.

This helicopter was previously used for BC Ambulance services. It is already equipped with the necessary medical equipment and will also include a unique MOVES® SLC™ portable life support system designed specifically for critical care in complex environments.

Ukrainian representatives that will receive the helicopter visited Vancouver in November 2024 for training and to assess the condition of the helicopter. These are experienced Ukrainian pilots who have developed the first helicopter protocol for medical evacuations.

We approached transport companies with a request for special delivery terms and received a discounted estimate of $85,000.

Our organization, Maple Hope Foundation, carries out a number of ongoing initiatives to support those in need in Ukraine, funded throughout the year via fundraisers, concerts, fairs, rallies, private donations, and more. The "Rescue Wings for Ukraine" project is another critical goal we are committed to achieving.

We cannot afford to delay the delivery, as every day this helicopter remains in the hangar waiting for shipment is a missed opportunity to save a LIFE.

In November 2024, a charity event in memory of Ihor Sikorsky was held, during which the Sikorsky 76A helicopter project was officially presented to partners and members of the community.

Photos and videos from the event are available on our social media and Maple Hope Foundation website. This is the very helicopter that will be delivered to Ukraine. Not long ago, it flew over the landscapes of British Columbia, and now it will be saving the lives of Ukrainians.

After the helicopter is officially handed over to its recipient in Ukraine, Maple Hope Foundation will present a detailed report on the work completed, similar to the reports on other aid projects available on our website. Furthermore, we are confident that such an event will be covered by Ukrainian media, and we will share these updates on our social media platforms.

Maple Hope Foundation, a Canadian non-profit organization (Society number: S0064704) are organizing the project and the fundraising campaign.

With the support of the NGO Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) for handling the helicopter's shipment from Canada and NGO Initiative E+ for facilitating the donation acceptance in Ukraine, we launched the Canada-wide fundraiser "Rescue Wings for Ukraine" to accelerate the helicopter’s transportation.

We believe in uniting our large diaspora, our friends and supporters, where every contribution, even $5–$10, will help achieve the necessary fundraising goal and make the delivery of the helicopter a reality as soon as possible.

Our goal is for the helicopter to be flying over Ukraine, saving lives, by January 2025.
